The rich orange color of the changing maple leaves is rivaled only by the heaps of ripe pumpkins on stoops and outside of markets in fall. If you’d rather score your pumpkin in a more outdoorsy way, read on for our selection of family-friendly farms that offer fall pumpkin picking.

Queens County Farm Museum

If you’re not up for leaving the city, hop on the train and head to Queens to the County Farm Museum. Interesting historical fact: Queens County Farm is a 47-acre historic site and is the oldest continually-farmed land in NYC. Weekends are for pumpkin picking, and there’s a petting zoo plus an epic corn maze. As an added bonus, there’s even a haunted house!
