NYC Pride Guide 2023

June 9, 2023 | 4 min Read

New York City embraces June as Pride month like none other. With parades, festivals, concerts and plenty of other events, the city celebrates its LGBTQIA+ community and this year’s motto: “Strength in Solidarity.” Pride organizers released the following statement, “This year’s theme highlights the cultural significance of the LGBTQIA+ community within the fabric of modern society, while acknowledging every individual’s uniqueness and ability to wield tremendous power when united with others.”

New York City’s Pride celebrations of epic proportions are deeply important to the city, as the first march was held here in 1970, just one year after the Stonewall Uprising. Join in solidarity at any one of the events listed below.

Pride Parade

The NYC Pride March is on Sunday, June 25, 2023, starting at noon. The parade has been known to last for hours, (like 6-10 hours)! So there’s plenty of time to catch the costumes, the flair, and the joy. The route will take marchers south on 5th Avenue before heading west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before dispersing in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue. If you can’t make it in person, fear not, for the sixth year in a row, the NYC Pride March will be broadcast on ABC-7.

Stonewall Day

Stonewall Day on June 23, which commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, is moving to Hudson Yards this year. This will make the event even bigger and able to accommodate more people. This is good news for organizers because Stonewall Day is also a fundraiser for the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC), the first LGBTQ+ visitor center within the National Park System, slated to open next June.

Christina Aguilera is headlining the concert and promising an unforgettable show with help from Mila Jam, BETTY, and drag queen Mariyea and more.

Tickets for the event are free, however, VIP access can be purchased, starting at $82.
