Unique Places To Watch Fireworks On the 4th of July in NYC

June 23, 2018 | 4 min Read

Celebrating Independence Day in New York City

If you ask any New Yorker, they will tell you that NYC is the proudest city in the country, if not the world. There’s nothing quite so beautiful as fireworks over a lingering silhouette of the NYC skyline.

Our great city is the best place to celebrate 4th of July with your friends or with your family. Learn about some of our favorite places for firework viewing on this patriotic day.

#1 A Rooftop Bar Viewing Experience

There is nothing better than a rooftop location for getting the best view of the fireworks. The great thing about this favorite Australian bar is that you can watch the fireworks while eating some amazing dishes, from small bites and burgers and sandwiches to grilled skewers. Just makes sure you get tickets when they come out, though that hasn’t been announced yet.

Where? Northern Territory; 12 Franklin St., Brooklyn (20 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

When? Monday – Friday 5pm – 11pm; Saturday & Sunday 4pm – 11pm

#2 The Long Island City Experience

The rest of the year, this neighborhood counts as one of the most creative residential areas in the city. But on the 4th of July, you’ll find it the home of some excellent parks right along the river, where you can take your family and see the fireworks, up close and personal. Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunter’s Point South Park are two of the best parks on the Brooklyn side you can’t miss.

Where?
Gantry Plaza State Park; 4-09 47th Rd, Long Island City, Queens (15 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

Where? Hunter’s Point South Park; Center Blvd, Long Island City, Queens (15 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

Where? 134 West 37th St., Manhattan (20 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

When? Monday – Friday: 11am – 9:30pm; Saturday – Sunday: 12pm – 9:30pm

#3 The 1.5 Mile Long Manhattan Park Experience

It can be tricky finding a good spot to view the fireworks because so many other people are looking as well. However, this one park in Manhattan has a 1.5 mile long shoreline, which means there is a lot of space. If you get there early enough, then you’ll have a good chance of finding a good place for your family and friends to see the celebrations.

Where?
John V. Lindsay East River Park; Montgomery St. To E. 12 St., FDR Drive, Manhattan (25 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

#4 The View from the Tallest Building

Instead of finding a spot on the ground and craning your neck to see the sky…go up to the sky? The One World Observatory costs a couple hundred to get into, but you’ll get an open bar, dinner, and some of the best photos of the 4th of July fireworks you’ll ever get. If it’s just you and a special someone, or maybe a close group of friends, then this might be one of the best nights of your life.

Where? One World Observatory; 285 Fulton St., Manhattan (30 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

When? 4th of July Celebration 8pm – 10pm

#5 The Fireworks Experience from a Cruise

If you can’t find space on land, then your other option is to find it from the water. The fireworks are launched from the water, after all. There are a couple cruises that you can choose, including the Hornblower Hybrid and the Bateaux New York Dinner Cruise. You’ll get a delicious meal, unique viewing spot, dancing and music, and an unforgettable experience.

Where?
Bateaux New York Dinner Cruise; Boards at Pier 61, Chelsea Piers, on West 23rd St., Manhattan (20 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)

When? 5pm – 11pm

Where? Hornblower Hybrid; Boards at Pier 15, 78 South St., Manhattan (30 min drive from The Lombardy Hotel)
