Spring has Sprung in New York City

April 27, 2023 | 4 min Read

It’s official, spring is here. The tulips are blooming, the grasses are greening and the birds are singing in the parks. It’s a perfect time of year to stroll New York City on foot and take in the majesty and excitement of the Big Apple. We have a small collection of curated activities to round out the month of April and get your May started off right.

Explore the Universe with Destination Cosmos: The Immersive Experience

Destination Cosmos: The Immersive Experience is a digital exhibition that takes its guests on an enthralling voyage through the expansive universe. During this one of a kind exploration, enjoy close up views of planets and supernovae. See the red canyons of Mars and the hazy rings of Saturn in such vividness that it feels as though you’re hovering just above. As you move about the universe, there are enthralling moments with nothing but stars as far as the eye can see. The space exploration exhibition will run until June 4, 2023 at the Hall des Lumières. Reserve tickets ahead of time.

Sample Bites at Smorgasburg Food Market

Smorgasburg Food Market is the hippest open-air food market in New York City. Everyone comes to meet up with friends, eat, drink and enjoy the epic views of the Manhattan skyline. The people watching is also second to none. This is one event you won’t want to miss while in New York.

Smorgasburg means “a mixture of food” and the event is a collection of small stalls selling delicious, mouth watering foods that run the gamut from the simple hot dog to vegan Pad Thai. Smorgasburg moves around with different locations depending on the day (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays). See the website for exact locations and dates.

Tour the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum

With the warmer weather, why not pay a visit to the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum, the only floating museum in NYC. The museum is housed in a repurposed aircraft carrier that is docked in the Hudson River. A visit includes touring a wide selection of historic military and maritime vehicles, plus museum ships. This attraction is equally fun for kids who are wowed by the machinery as it is adults with its in-depth historical look at the US military and maritime past. As an additional reason to visit, Fridays are free from 5pm-9pm April-September. Mark your calendars! Reservations are best. Book ahead.

Visit Little Island

If getting outside is top priority, plan a visit to Little Island, one of New York’s newest islands and experiences. Located just beyond the Meatpacking District and the High Line, Little Island is a public park on 132 tulip-shaped concrete stilts in the Hudson River. Each of the concrete pylons is set at a varying height, giving the impression of a wave-shaped park, hovering above the river. It’s also a space brimming with activity, so bring your yoga mat for an outdoor class, find a quiet space for meditation, jump rope with the kids, or simply walk the winding paths. The park is a beautiful slice of nature in New York City.
