August 26, 2022 | 3 min Read

Looking for an old-world experience, a great shave and haircut? We’ve got you covered this week as our blog takes a look at vintage barber shops in the city. Stepping into any of the shops on our list is like going back in time to a New York that has mostly vanished. From the antique decor to the staff to the clean shave, it’s a one of a kind experience. Read on for more information and where to find some of the city’s best old-school barber shops. NB: Most offer a great deal on kids haircuts too.

Paul Mole Barber Shop

Paul Mole Barber Shop holds claim to the title of the oldest barber shop in Manhattan. Located in the historically wealthy Upper East Side, Paul Mole’s doesn’t mess around when it comes to first class barber services. With a history that dates to 1913, the shop is steeped in history. The interior exudes a timelessness that is endearing, where wood trimmings, leather-and-chrome barber chairs, antique barber poles, and shop heirlooms that compliment modern day luxury. Each client is offered a cappuccino upon arrival and the shop has an elegant website that shows off how it combines old world service with modern day amenities. You can book your cut or shave or any other service of choosing on the barber shop’s website. Appointments are encouraged; walkins are also welcome.
