Gray's Papaya

Founded in 1973, this hot dog spot is best known for its “Recession Special”, which consists of two hot dogs and a 14-ounce drink for $4.45. It offers several options for toppings such as chili, slaw, ketchup, mustard, onions, and sauerkraut. They also have several interesting drink options, one of which is a papaya drink. This restaurant is also famous because it’s been featured in movies and TV shows, such as “You’ve Got Mail,” “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “Sex and the City,” “Glee”, and “The Michael J. Fox Show.”

It’s located close to Times Square, so it’s worth visiting if you want a quick bite. So you drop by anytime, since it’s open 24-hours.

Crif Dogs

Back in October 2001, Brian Shebairo and Chris Antista opened Crif Dogs. They hit upon this name when Brian tried to say his former partner’s name – while he had a hot dog in his mouth! At this venue, you’ll find dozens of options with many toppings and sauces to go with your hot dogs. Some suggested toppings are “Jon-Jon Deragon”, “Tsunami”, and “Temptee dog”. Crif offers a selection of beers to go with your hot dog. They also have a very extensive menu of ‘extras’ – which make for some interesting combinations you’ll certainly enjoy. Chilli fries and shakes are also highly recommended. It’s a great place to stop after your walking tour of the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Nathan's Famous

Nathan’s famous started back in 1916 on Coney Island. In business for over 100 years ago, this restaurant has been praised by politicians, show-business personalities, and sports celebrities alike. You can find Nathan’s Famous all over Manhattan, but if you prefer, you can opt to visit the original location on Coney Island, as many locals and tourists do. You can eat at the restaurant or enjoy your food while strolling down the Boardwalk. It’ll taste better at the beach on a sunny day. Nathan’s Famous is a must when visiting South Brooklyn.

What about satisfying your hot dog craving after strolling through Central Park and surrounding areas? Make a stop on the corner of 86th Street and 3rd Avenue at this venue that has been operating for over 87 years. You’ll find frankfurt hot dogs that you can customize with many additional ingredients and sauces. You can order your food with or without the famous papaya smoothie drink. Schaller's Stube Sausage Bar

Schaller’s Stube is located on Second Avenue, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This restaurant was opened in 2014 by its owner, Jeremy Schaller, and his business partner, Jesse Denes. They serve well crafted and tasty hot dogs from next door’s Schaller & Weber butcher shop, founded in 1937. The culinary experience the owners offer comes from a legacy of authentic German style sausage and charcuterie. You’ll find great combinations on the house menu or you can build your own. We recommend you stop by Schaller’s and get a good bite and have a beer while listen to some German music.
