Spark your creativity this year with the Tribeca Film Festival! One of the biggest independent film festivals in the world, the Tribeca Film Festival is a glorious celebration of films, culture and creativity hosted by none other than the global city of New York. This year from June 8 – 19, the festival offers a unique opportunity to dive into a world of creativity, self-expression, cultural identity and unification around film.
Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal created the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002. The festival highlights politically, culturally and socially relevant films from diverse storytellers. However it is so much more than just a film festival. We’ve pulled together some of the highlights here. Tickets are available on the festival website.

Retrospective Films
The Tribeca Film Festival is a beautiful opportunity to revisit classic films with a new lens. See The Godfather, introduced by the one and only Al Pacino. Or catch a viewing of Heat with a live conversation with stars Pacino and DeNiro and director Michael Mann. Or revisit Eve’s Bayou with a post screening conversation with director Kasi Lemmons, producer Caldecot “Cotty” Chubb, Meagan Good (Cisely Batiste), and other members of the cast to be announced.
Premiers
The Beacon theater is hosting several movie premiere screenings. Including the following
- The DOC tells the inspirational story of hip hop icon The DOC, 30 years after losing his voice in a horrific accident as he contemplates experimental surgery that could restore his voice at long last. The screening is followed by a special birthday performance for The DOC with DJ Quik, Das, Kurupt, & surprise guests.
- Hallelujah Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song is a biographical deep-dive into the iconic hymn. The film chronicles the life of legendary musician Leonard Cohen, whose poetry evolved into a successful career as a singer-songwriter. It is an opportunity to explore the artist and his process. Through intimate interviews and personal and performance archival footage, a picture of the man emerges. Following the screening a musical performance in tribute to Leonard Cohen with Judy Collins, Amanda Shires, Sharon Robinson and Daniel Seavey will take place.
- Taurus portrays the struggle of a rising but troubled musician as he searches for the inspiration to record one last song. His self destruction is matched only by his drive toward artistic perfection. Taurus is a work of fiction, however, the tale is all too familiar as it exposes the perils of fame, addiction, the artistic temperament, and the music industry.
The world-premier film of the festival for 2022 is Vengeance, a feature film by debut director B.J. Novak. Vengeance is a dark comedy about a journalist who travels from New York City to Texas to investigate the mysterious death of a young woman. The director also stars alongside an ensemble cast including Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, Boyd Holbrook, J. Smith-Cameron, and Dove Cameron. The film plays at several theaters. You can catch the trailer here.
