This week we’re bringing you a shortlisted guide to the best of the annual Oktoberfest activities around New York City! The annual event can be traced back to the 1810 wedding of Prince (soon to be King) Ludwig. For his wedding, he invited the entire town to attend the grand festivities, including lots of beer drinking and giant feasts. The celebration has crossed the Atlantic and lives on in New York City. Prost!
OktoberFest at Watermark Bar
If you want views of the river with your wienerschnitzel, Watermark Bar is your kind of place! The restaurant and bar will be celebrating OktoberFest with steins of German beer, (mini-kegs available for order for the very thirsty among us). Plus, on the menu they’ll have bratwursts and oversized pretzels in homage to the German autumnal festival. According to their website, Lederhosen are welcome and reservations are recommended.

Loreley Beer Garden
Loreley Beer Garden’s Oktoberfest celebration is happening now through Tuesday, October 31. The heated outdoor patio not only has pumpkin flavored beer at its beautiful biergarten, (styled after a German pub) but it also boasts pumpkin kegs! Pumpkin kegs are actual pumpkins filled with beer or fall themed cocktails and ready to tap and pour. Come thirsty!

Hike-toberfest
If you want to add a little something healthy to your Oktoberfest plans, grab your sneakers and head to Hike-toberfest on Saturday, October 21. Participants will hike in Van Cortlandt Park, and after enjoy an Oktoberfest celebration!
There are several hikes that participants can try: a historical tour, a family-friendly walk or a nature education hike. Each hike is unique but all allow for exploration of the park, including its unique wetland and woodland areas— all within the city!
The post-hike celebration includes beer from local breweries, German food, games and live music. Purchase tickets ahead of time.
West Park Beer Garden By Oceana
West Park Beer Garden, an outdoor pop-up by acclaimed seafood restaurant Oceana, is celebrating Oktoberfest this year. The beer garden will have special decor, German-style beers and traditional foods (think: giant Bavarian pretzels, bratwurst sliders, sauerkraut and spicy mustard). Don’t delay, the West Park Beer Garden Oktoberfest celebrations only last through Thursday, October 5, 2023; but you can always enjoy the beer garden, minus the German theme. The beer garden is the breezeway between West 48th and West 49th Streets.
