Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree


This iconic symbol of New York at the holidays is a sure fire way to put a smile on your face. Visit the magnificent Rockefeller Christmas Tree, which is adored by local New Yorkers and tourists alike. For more than eight decades, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has stood as a holiday beacon. The lights, decorations, and stars at the top have changed through the years, but spending a moment gazing up at the big tree is a quintessential New York holiday experience you won’t want to miss.

While you’re there, consider lacing up your skates and doing a few laps around the rink under the big tree at The Rink at Rockefeller Center . There’s also the Radio City Rockettes performing the Radio City Christmas Spectacular nearby.

Dyker Heights


If you’re looking for a grandiose display of home-spun holiday joy, you’ll want to cruise over to the Dyker Heights Christmas Lights 2022 display. This Brooklyn neighborhood is home to the most over-the-top Christmas decor in all of New York. You’ll see life-sized Santas, sleighs large enough to sit in, and towering snowmen, all hanging out in the front yards. Some homeowners even pump Christmas carol music out into the streets over loudspeakers. There are multiple blocks of lights and decorations to check out in the Kings County neighborhood. Come to marvel at the feats undertaken to spread Christmas cheer by the residents of this New York City neighborhood.

Central Park Discovery Center


A stroll through Central Park at dusk is just what the doctor ordered for a bit of holiday spirit and a little light viewing. For over a quarter century, the Central Park Conservancy has covered Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in festive holiday lights. While the inauguration has passed, the lights still shine each night as a reminder of the season. Located on the north shore of the Harlem Meer is the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center is a visitor center run by the Central Park Conservancy.

Meatpacking District Lights


Sparkling lights, larger-than-life snowpeople, neon globes, cool photo frames and even a mirrored tunnel for extra light pizzazzz will be on display throughout the historic Meatpacking District. The frames make for great photo ops for those better-late-than-never holiday cards and the futuristic shapes and lights are a treat. The main attractions are along Ninth Avenue between 14th Street and Gansevoort Street and into Gansevoort Plaza. Don’t skip the district’s colonnade with its mirrored tunnel. Illuminate the Farm Winter Lantern Festival


Things are staying warm and cozy this December at the NYC Winter Lantern Festival as it returns for the 2022 season with an illuminated event bound to spark wonder in us all. Handmade lanterns abound at the Queens County Farm as you enter an immersive experience with double the amount of lanterns and lights from last year. Illuminated tunnels, swings (rideable) and plethora of other lights transport visitors, explaining Chinese myths and legends. Through January 8, 2023.
