New Year’s Eve in New York
No place on earth quite rings in the New Year like New York. There’s a space to celebrate for every taste and personality from lavish and extravagant to calm and intimate. While far from exhaustive, we have a small round up of parties and places to welcome in 2023 in New York City!
Times Square Ball Drop
The most quintessential way to ring in the New Year is to watch the ball drop in Times Square. At One Times Square the ball descends down a flagpole at 11:59:00 p.m. ET, and comes to a halt at the bottom of its trajectory exactly at midnight to announce the start of the New Year. In recent years, the ball drop has been preceded by live entertainment, television coverage and musical performances. Nearly 3,000 pounds of confetti is dropped in Times Square, and it’s a sight to be seen and experienced. For a list of parties and places to check out to see the ball drop check out balldrop.com
Loreley Beer Garden Masquerade
Love a good disguise? Bring a masquerade masque to this NYE party at the Loreley Beer Garden to go incognito. Or if you don’t have a masque they’re giving them out for free at this Lower East Side bar. With a happy hour running from 5-10 pm, free champagne at midnight and best of all, no cover charge, there’s plenty of fun to be had. There are seasonal, festive drinks on the menu and the bar is decorated with head to toe lights and holiday themed decorum. Reservations are the ideal way to go, but not necessary as walk-ins are also welcome.
