May 6, 2022 | 4 min Read
It’s spring! Flowers are blooming, the air is warm and it’s time to say thank you to the one and only woman who brought you into this world— it’s mother’s day on Sunday, May 8, 2022. New York has an incredible amount of things to do and ways to celebrate your mum, we’ve narrowed it down to a few of the best, most quintessential New York moments and ways to celebrate.
High Tea at Oscar Wilde
Bedazzle your mother with a high tea fit for a prohibition era queen! Oscar Wilde’s is hosting Mother’s Day high tea with a delicious spread of treats including the de rigeur finger sandwiches. Did anyone say cucumbers and cream cheese? Not only are there yummy bites, the bar is also doing decadent desserts to go with the tea. And of course, being Oscar Wilde’s, if mom wants something a little stronger than tea, a cheeky and fun cocktail list is available.
Furthering the allure, the ambiance at Oscar Wilde’s is fun with its over the top velvet, gold, lacquered wood and abundance of clocks and romantic-era paintings. It’s the perfect place to spoil mom for high tea.

Plan a Picnic at Wave Hill
Wave Hill has a beautiful Mother’s Day celebration that turns its dazzling gardens into a Mothers Day extravaganza. There are special art projects for the whole family, this is especially great if you have young children who will be taking part in the Mother’s Day celebrations. Guided walks are offered in the afternoons and on Sunday there’s a free community yoga class and a family nature walk.
Families can also enjoy a rare opportunity to picnic on the North Lawn (opposite Wave hill House) or in Armor Hall —space there is available on a first-come basis and space is limited. Picnics are allowed from 10 and 4PM both days. If you plan to picnic, bring your own blanket and outdoor folding chairs, with your own picnic.
