5 Cocktails To Warm Your Spirit This Holiday Season
January 15, 2018 | 3 min Read
Why Cocktails Are The Best Winter Activity
When it is cold and blustery outside, the perfect activity is to find a good cocktail in a great place, and let it warm you up. You don’t need to be outside to enjoy a good cocktail. You don’t even need to go outside to enjoy a good cocktail if you have the ingredients at home. If you’re at a hotel like The Lombardy Hotel, then you have a bar restaurant right downstairs where you can find some warming up.
#1 Smoked Old Fashioned
What’s better than some classy rye or bourbon whiskey to warm you up on a chilly day. Not to mention how the smoke quite literally heats the whole situation up. And if you go to a bar, then you’ll get an extra special show with your drink.
Where? American Cut Steakhouse Midtown on 109 East 56th Street, Manhattan at The Lombardy Hotel
When? Open from 5pm-10pm Monday thru Thursday and 5pm-11pm Friday and Saturday
#2 Spiked Homemade Eggnog
You love it or you hate it, but eggnog is the cheerleading drink of winter. How can it not warm you up with frothy creaminess and spicy sweet rum. It’s the drink version of a fuzzy warm blanket.
Where? Rolf’s Bar & Restaurant on 281 3rd Avenue, Manhattan (15 minute drive from The Lombardy)
When? 12pm – 10pm, Monday through Sunday
#3 Mexican Hot Chocolate
Spicy, chocolatey goodness. There is nothing that warms up your belly and gives you a smile better than this sweet treat. With or without a kick of liquor, this winter drink will take you to the warm sunny winter beaches of Mexico while the snow pours down outside.
Where? Leyenda on 221 Smith Street, Brooklyn (30 minute drive from The Lombardy)
When? Monday – Thursday 5pm – 2am; Friday 5pm – 3am; Saturday & Sunday 11am – 3am
#4 Hot Hard Cider
Apples, the fruit of fall and winter. Make it hard and give it some heat and you’ll feel like you’re in a rustic winter forest, from the warmth of a bar or your home. It’s easy to make at home and delicious to share with friends out on the town.
Where? The Owl Farm on 297 9th Street, Brooklyn (30 minute drive from The Lombardy)
When? Monday – Friday 2pm – 4am; Saturday & Sunday 12:30pm – 4am
#5 Candy Cane Margarita
While margaritas are known for being cool or frozen drinks, we couldn’t resist adding this one to the list because it is made with candy cane, and what says more about Christmas than that red and white striped delight? We can bundle up if it means enjoying this drink.
Where? Blockheads on 60 3rd Avenue, Manhattan (10 minute walk from The Lombardy)
When? Sunday – Wednesday 11:30am – 10pm; Thursday 11:30am – 11pm; Friday & Saturday 11:30pm – 12am
We happen to love NYC even when it is snowy and cold outside; we’ve just learned how to cope with the cold and sometimes a warm drink or warming cocktail is just the thing to help us keep our smiles through the holidays.
